With a population of roughly 250,000 people and 78 constituent neighborhoods, Reno is the third largest community in Nevada. Las Vegas and Henderson are number 1 and 2. The Reno-Sparks metropolitan area, containing Washoe and Storey counties has a population of approximately 450,000 people which is the second largest metropolitan area in NV. Reno has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Reno is a city of sales and office workers, service providers and professionals.
One thing noticeable about Reno, although not a huge city, is that it has a large population of people who are young, single, educated, and upwardly-mobile career starters. That’s because Reno is full of single people in their 20’s and 30’s who have undergraduate or graduate degrees and are starting careers in professional occupations. This makes Reno an ideal place for young, educated graduates looking to find opportunities for themselves, friendships, socializing, romance, and fun. They are also great clients for Reno Real Estate.
In addition to the younger residents, Reno Real Estate is a preferred retirement location for older couples moving here from CA, AZ, MN and other locations. The relatively lower cost housing, no state income tax and moderate weather are attractive features for retirees. Median prices for homes in Reno are roughly 1/2 the price of comparable sized homes in the nearby Truckee and Lake Tahoe areas and maybe 1/3 the cost of CA Bay Area homes. Close proximity to Truckee and Lake Tahoe provides many people the opportunity to live in Reno and play or work in the nearby Truckee/Tahoe areas.
